Shailesh Kantak, PT, PhD

Director

Dr. Kantak brings extensive knowledge and experience in rehabilitation and neuroscience, with a career focused on understanding the neurobehavioral mechanisms of motor control and learning following brain injury. His work is dedicated to developing evidence-based rehabilitation strategies aimed at improving patient outcomes. He earned his BS and MS in Physical Therapy from Mumbai University, specializing in Neurologic Physical Therapy, and later completed a PhD in Biokinesiology from USC. He pursued postdoctoral training at the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab and the University of Maryland. Before joining the Pathokinesiology Laboratory, Dr. Kantak served as an institute scientist at Moss Rehabilitation and as an Associate Professor at Arcadia University for 11 years. His research interests, including bimanual coordination, cognitive-motor interactions, and neuromodulation, reflect his commitment to advancing the field of rehabilitation.
